Preserving Global Hertage
At Bartelings, our business is built on our desire to showcase the world’s most wonderous destinations and sights. In doing so we are giving travellers experiences that are rich in culture, eye-opening in natural beauty and educational in heritage.
But is this sustainable?
Of course, travel by bike or on foot is the pinnacle of sustainable travel but there are ways to make air travel more sustainable and Bartelings have built these into its business ethos.
Taking strides to mitigate the impact of flying, Bartelings’ sustainable ethos revolves around:
1. Flying direct to destinations
Bartelings’ itineraries for their Escorted Journeys by Air are created to combine destinations that are the most efficient in terms of flight time, distance and flying direction, minimising the carbon impact.
2. Commissioning aircraft that suit the size of group and destinations
Our global partnerships with specialist airlines mean we are able to secure small aircraft like a Cessna that can access certain destinations, to large commercial airliners that can seat 450 people. By securing the most appropriate charter for group size and destination itinerary is both cost and environmentally effective.
3. Protecting culture, heritage and the environment
In April 2022, Bartelings became a member of the World Tourism Association for Culture & Heritage (WTACH). There is no denying that tourism impacts humankind’s heritage and traditions and the environment. WTACH will give us a better understanding and take responsibility for the impact we have on the world, helping us to preserve our global cultural and environmental heritage. As a member of WTACH, Bartelings can also encourage its clients to explore the opportunities for safeguarding and supporting cultural experiences and traditions.
4. Continually developing contacts and relationships within the aviation industry
With responsible tourism high on our own agenda, we are excited to see how the aviation industry is advancing towards more sustainable travel through the possibilities of electric aircraft and technological innovation. Bartelings keeps its eye firmly in the frame to ensure we can meet the demands of our clients and travellers when it comes to offering options for greater positive environmental impact.
Bartelings continues to grow its global network of local expertise, experiencing first hand both the service and affinity with the indigenous nature and culture, to ensure we are selecting on-the-ground tours that fit with our ethos.
